Language points
路: the bus route
三路车 is the number three bus. The figure comes before 路, and the word 车 is dropped when the context is clear: 坐三路 is enough. The question is put with 几路车 or 坐几路. Do not confuse it with the metro, whose lines are 号线, nor with 路 meaning a road, which is the same character.
站, the stop and the station
The same word counts stops and names stations: 四站 four stops, 车站 the bus stop or bus station, 火车站 the railway station, 地铁站 the metro station. As a verb, 站 means to stand, which is exactly what you do on a crowded bus.
上车 and 下车
You get on with 上车 and off with 下车, for a bus, a train, a car, a taxi. The same verbs do for a boat and a plane, with a different noun: 上飞机, 下飞机. The bicycle is the exception and takes 骑, to ride astride.
