Baby gender predictor (Chinese method)

Mother's birthday:
Date of conception:

How to determine your baby’s gender or how to choose your baby’s sex, should we have a girl or a boy?

This tool will help you determine the sex / gender of the baby according to the date of birth of the mother and the date of conception.

It's based on an old document found in the ancient tomb of a monk in Beijing. According to legend, the relevance of the 700 year old parchment is better than other methods of prediction.

Being a popular belief, the results are of course not guaranteed but will be more faithful to the original document as other charts and tools found on the web which do not take into account the fact that the table is based on a lunar, not solar calendar !

This content is here for information and cultural interest. The beliefs it describes are not necessarily our own.

What the Qing dynasty chart is, and what it is not

The chart this tool uses is a traditional Chinese table that crosses the mother's age with the month of conception, both reckoned in the Chinese calendar rather than the Western one. It is usually said to have been found in a Qing dynasty tomb, and copies of it circulate widely in China and beyond.

It has no predictive value, and it is worth being plain about that rather than leaving it implied: a table that assigns one of two outcomes to each square will be right about half the time whatever it contains, which is exactly what makes such charts persist.

It is here as a piece of tradition, alongside the calendar and the zodiac tools that share its arithmetic. The conversion between the Western and Chinese reckonings of age and month is the interesting part, and the calendar converter does that on its own for any date. This tool is offered as cultural information.
