Every sentence is a real example of a point of Chinese grammar, with the reading and the translation that go with it. The full correction comes up as soon as you have answered, so a surprising answer never stays a mystery.

The two directions
- Chinese to English — One Chinese sentence, four translations: which one is right?

- Both, mixed — The two directions in turn, drawn at random for each question.
The levels
- A1 (HSK 1) — First sentences: introducing yourself, saying what you have, asking a question. Pinyin is shown.
- A2 (HSK 2) — Telling a story: the past, duration, comparison. No pinyin.
- B1 (HSK 3) — Longer sentences: consequence, condition, everyday turns of phrase.
- B2 (HSK 4) — Written Chinese: shades of meaning, set expressions, formal register.
