What this exercise is for
Chinese has no conjugation and no declension: it is the position of a word that says who does what, when and where. A word out of place does not make a clumsy sentence — it makes a different one, or none at all.
This exercise asks you neither to translate nor to recognise: it asks you to arrange. The pieces of a sentence are given out of order; put them back and the translation appears.
The sentences come from the dialogues in the site's lessons. Every one of them was said by somebody in an ordinary situation — a market, a ticket office, a waiting room — and none was written for this game.
