Language points

一…都不…, the negative with no exception

一支都没抽: not one single cigarette. The mould is 一 + measure word + 都 (or 也) + negative, and it denies more strongly than 没抽烟, which would say only that he did not smoke. It holds for anything countable: 一个人都没来, 一句话都没说. The measure word is compulsory, and it is what says what you are talking about.

真的假的: surprise, not suspicion

真的假的 is a ready-made reaction, literally "true or false?". It marks astonishment at a piece of news, not doubt about the honesty of the speaker. Rendering it as "are you lying?" gets the register wrong: it is friendly and very common between people of the same age.

省下来: what the action puts aside

省下来 uses 下来 not for going down but to say that something stays, settles, is kept. The same value is found in 记下来 (to note down and keep), 留下来 (to stay behind), 停下来 (to stop and remain stopped). It is the abstract sense of the directional complement, and it is the one level C has to learn to recognise.
