Language points

先… 再…: first, then

先放卡,再输密码 puts two actions in order. 先 goes in front of the first verb, 再 in front of the second, and both stay attached to the verb: never at the head of the sentence as English "first" can be. When the second action really depends on the first, 然后 is used instead, and that one does go at the head of the second clause.

点, one character and four trades

点菜 to order a dish, 点五百 to press the figure, 点钱 to count notes, 三点 three o'clock. The shared idea is touching a precise point, with a finger or with the eye. It is one of the best-value characters in everyday Chinese, and it is worth recognising in all four of its coats.

错: the slip, not the failure

输错了 says the code was keyed in wrongly. 错 attaches behind the verb to say that the action was done, but done badly: 说错, 写错, 走错. Its opposite is not 对 but 没错, "nothing wrong there", which is the ordinary Chinese way of confirming a count.
