| 1 | 以色列人在米斯巴曾起誓说，我们都不将女儿给便雅悯人为妻。 | Now the men of Israel had sworn in Mizpeh, saying, There shall not any of us give his daughter unto Benjamin to wife. |
| 2 | 以色列人来到伯特利，坐在神面前直到晚上，放声痛哭， | And the people came to the house of God, and abode there till even before God, and lifted up their voices, and wept sore; |
| 3 | 说，耶和华以色列的神阿，为何以色列中有这样缺了一支派的事呢？ | And said, O LORD God of Israel, why is this come to pass in Israel, that there should be to day one tribe lacking in Israel? |
| 4 | 次日清早，百姓起来，在那里筑了一座坛，献燔祭和平安祭。 | And it came to pass on the morrow, that the people rose early, and built there an altar, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. |
| 5 | 以色列人彼此问说，以色列各支派中，谁没有同会众上到耶和华面前来呢？先是以色列人起过大誓说，凡不上米斯巴到耶和华面前来的，必将他治死。 | And the children of Israel said, Who is there among all the tribes of Israel that came not up with the congregation unto the LORD? For they had made a great oath concerning him that came not up to the LORD to Mizpeh, saying, He shall surely be put to death. |
| 6 | 以色列人为他们的弟兄便雅悯后悔，说，如今以色列中绝了一个支派了。 | And the children of Israel repented them for Benjamin their brother, and said, There is one tribe cut off from Israel this day. |
| 7 | 我们既在耶和华面前起誓说，必不将我们的女儿给便雅悯人为妻，现在我们当怎样办理，使他们剩下的人有妻呢？ | How shall we do for wives for them that remain, seeing we have sworn by the LORD that we will not give them of our daughters to wives? |
| 8 | 又彼此问说，以色列支派中谁没有上米斯巴到耶和华面前来呢？他们就查出基列雅比没有一人进营到会众那里。 | And they said, What one is there of the tribes of Israel that came not up to Mizpeh to the LORD? And, behold, there came none to the camp from Jabeshgilead to the assembly. |
| 9 | 因为百姓被数的时候，没有一个基列雅比人在那里。 | For the people were numbered, and, behold, there were none of the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead there. |
| 10 | 会众就打发一万二千大勇士，吩咐他们说，你们去用刀将基列雅比人连妇女带孩子都击杀了。 | And the congregation sent thither twelve thousand men of the valiantest, and commanded them, saying, Go and smite the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead with the edge of the sword, with the women and the children. |
| 11 | 所当行的就是这样，要将一切男子和已嫁的女子尽行杀戮。 | And this is the thing that ye shall do, Ye shall utterly destroy every male, and every woman that hath lain by man. |
| 12 | 他们在基列雅比人中，遇见了四百个未嫁的处女，就带到迦南地的示罗营里。 | And they found among the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead four hundred young virgins, that had known no man by lying with any male: and they brought them unto the camp to Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan. |
| 13 | 全会众打发人到临门磐的便雅悯人那里，向他们说和睦的话。 | And the whole congregation sent some to speak to the children of Benjamin that were in the rock Rimmon, and to call peaceably unto them. |
| 14 | 当时便雅悯人回来了，以色列人就把所存活基列雅比的女子给他们为妻，还是不够。 | And Benjamin came again at that time; and they gave them wives which they had saved alive of the women of Jabeshgilead: and yet so they sufficed them not. |
| 15 | 百姓为便雅悯人后悔，因为耶和华使以色列人缺了一个支派（原文作使以色列中有了破口）。 | And the people repented them for Benjamin, because that the LORD had made a breach in the tribes of Israel. |
| 16 | 会中的长老说，便雅悯中的女子既然除灭了，我们当怎样办理，使那余剩的人有妻呢？ | Then the elders of the congregation said, How shall we do for wives for them that remain, seeing the women are destroyed out of Benjamin? |
| 17 | 又说，便雅悯逃脱的人当有地业，免得以色列中涂抹了一个支派。 | And they said, There must be an inheritance for them that be escaped of Benjamin, that a tribe be not destroyed out of Israel. |
| 18 | 只是我们不能将自己的女儿给他们为妻。因为以色列人曾起誓说，有将女儿给便雅悯人为妻的，必受咒诅。 | Howbeit we may not give them wives of our daughters: for the children of Israel have sworn, saying, Cursed be he that giveth a wife to Benjamin. |
| 19 | 他们又说，在利波拿以南，伯特利以北，在示剑大路以东的示罗，年年有耶和华的节期。 | Then they said, Behold, there is a feast of the LORD in Shiloh yearly in a place which is on the north side of Bethel, on the east side of the highway that goeth up from Bethel to Shechem, and on the south of Lebonah. |
| 20 | 就吩咐便雅悯人说，你们去，在葡萄园中埋伏。 | Therefore they commanded the children of Benjamin, saying, Go and lie in wait in the vineyards; |
| 21 | 若看见示罗的女子出来跳舞，就从葡萄园出来，在示罗的女子中各抢一个为妻，回便雅悯地去。 | And see, and, behold, if the daughters of Shiloh come out to dance in dances, then come ye out of the vineyards, and catch you every man his wife of the daughters of Shiloh, and go to the land of Benjamin. |
| 22 | 他们的父亲或是弟兄若来与我们争竞，我们就说，求你们看我们的情面，施恩给这些人，因我们在争战的时候没有给他们留下女子为妻。这也不是你们将女子给他们的。若是你们给的，就算有罪。 | And it shall be, when their fathers or their brethren come unto us to complain, that we will say unto them, Be favourable unto them for our sakes: because we reserved not to each man his wife in the war: for ye did not give unto them at this time, that ye should be guilty. |
| 23 | 于是便雅悯人照样而行，按着他们的数目从跳舞的女子中抢去为妻，就回自己的地业去，又重修城邑居住。 | And the children of Benjamin did so, and took them wives, according to their number, of them that danced, whom they caught: and they went and returned unto their inheritance, and repaired the cities, and dwelt in them. |
| 24 | 当时以色列人离开那里，各归本支派，本宗族，本地业去了。 | And the children of Israel departed thence at that time, every man to his tribe and to his family, and they went out from thence every man to his inheritance. |
| 25 | 那时，以色列中没有王，各人任意而行。 | In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes. |
