Death of general Gao Xianzhi
Death
Gao Xianzhi, a Tang general of Goguryeo descent, dies in 756. He had led several expeditions into the Western Regions beyond the Pamirs and commanded the Tang forces at the Battle of Talas against the Abbasid Caliphate in 751, a defeat seen as the end of Tang westward expansion.

Liu Jishu, a eunuch who commanded the Shence Armies in the late Tang dynasty, dies in 901. In 900 he had briefly deposed Emperor Zhaozong in favour of the emperor's son Li Yu, Prince of De, before being killed in a counter-coup that restored Zhaozong to the throne.
