A propos / aime : French painter Jacques Ruiz was born July 8, 1951 in Blida Algeria, he spent his childhood in this wonderful country where the sun and the contrasts of color will always be engraved in it. Following the events he left North Africa to return to France. Bordeaux is the home with his family and became its home port in 1962. During his school's teachers successive detect a gift and a taste for drawing and advise parents of the referral to the School of Fine Arts, but it is self-taught he began painting his first gouaches. In 70-80 years he began to paint in oils on canvas and takes part in exhibitions and fairs. He meets recognized regional artists who guides him in techniques to better capture the light, understanding color and process volumes. During this period he is committed to develop his powers of observation.
Greatly influenced by the Impressionist masters as Monet, Pissarro, Sisley and Van Gogh. His painting is figurative of instinct, however, it addresses in the 90 abstraction allowing it to deal with important topical subjects such as AIDS (winning painting by Jacques Chaban Delmas at that time mayor of Bordeaux) with pollution (gold digger) and also the lyrical music (rhythm). His love of landscape, light and colors make the most of his work is figurative with a touch and a bill more or less strong according to the model that performs with a very personal vision.
He painted landscapes of Collioure, Nice, Arcachon, Honfleur, Paris, Provence, the edges of rivers, the Dordogne, the Oise, the Seine, the Marne still lifes and portraits as well as the circus. But it is especially Bordeaux inspiration that holds mainly his affection, with the stone bridge, the great Theatre, the place of Quinconces, the wharves and the public garden. It is now in private and public collections, towns and ministry.
